Unless I am mistaken, I believe there is only one domestic supplier for aggraffes, whom all the supply houses use. The spacing may be related to the diameter of the outer wraps. Some pianos, like old Mason & Hamlins can have pretty fat wraps, in which case a narrower bichord would be more effective in settling between the two strings. (And I think this was the reason the old Mason & Hamlin cut their own bichord dampers). Also, with the wide vs narrow bi-chord agraffes, what does the spacing width achieve? I would think the wide might help for hitting only single string with the una-chorda pedal engaged. Assuming new bridges/ caps/ cap layuout, is there any other difference to choose between the two? Or does the wide assume large wrap sizes on large instruments (doesn't seem to be about core size, since the holes are all the same size)?
