Are you saying you use the Scrubbing Bubbles on the old soft finishes?

Thumpe

Before French polishing or other methods of enhancement of finishes I
use Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner. I can't say enough good things
about what this stuff floats off. I have used Deft many years ago and
if you use it without a respirator and a fume booth, it will kill you.
Just my $.02. French polish has a little alcohol and you can use it in
a clients living room over her oriental carpet and not cause any
complaints.

I'd like to add, Doug, that I've had amazing results in
cosmetic improvement of old pianos by simply (thoroughly) scrubbing
the cases with 4/0 steel wool and naptha and paper towels (removes a
lot of dirt and darkness) and then wpining on a coat of oil stain
thinly (fills scratches and worn areas), letting it dry very well, and
spraying on some Deft(TM). What do you do to clean the old finish
prior to the French polishing?
