[pianotech] key sticking

I had one a couple of weeks ago... The chief complaint in this art deco, painted, no name spinet, was that when he played anywhere around middle C, 3 notes either side of middle C also played at the same time. Turns out a 4d galvanized nail was stuck down by the elbows and was laying across about 6 notes in all. Worked like a gang bar for all the notes. It took long tweezers and a bit of patience to work it down to the end where I could remove the nail. :-)

Keep up the good work. I remember being worried about 5 keys in a spinet that were stuck. Here I found a small plastic toy rhinocerous - tusks and all - fallen down behind the sticker wires, it looked like he was in a cage at the zoo.

I had to take the key cover off and reach in a little and there it was waiting for someone to set it free. lol I thought about it this morning and read about the sostenuto, and thought the tab could have been grabing the blade. I was so glad I didn't have to spend time taking the piano apart because my wife was on a tight schedule to get back to pick the kids up. It was a 45 minute drive each way. I'm glad that pencil saved the day. lol
