I wonder too if your 'bitchin' ultimatum' was directed at all those who had expressed regret at the list's demise (and who are still using it), or was it just special for Duaine, who, thank goodness, is not easily provoked. Just askin'.

The remark is aimed at those who cannot accept that the PTG is moving forward with new technology.

Now there's the Blees I remember. I wondered where he'd been hiding. Remember when we used call each other for advice, or sent letters and waited for weeks for a response? Then we got one email list on which we posted everything: University technicals, political stuff, and such. Then we grew. We got PTG-L for the politics, and CAUT for the university tech. We got one for hearing, and newbies, and Associates. Sometimes people complained there we too many list, and some complained because posts were sent to the wrong list. Along the way there was a learning curve to learn all this new computer stuff.

Then the PTG got a new web site, and server, and a new set of e-mail lists. It's going to require us to learn something new. So what? Hey, if I can learn to use the new stuff, anyone can. If you don't like it, leave. There is no law that says you HAVE to be part of the new community. If you want it bad enough, you'll learn how to use it. If you don't want to learn, you're the looser.
