[pianotech] business facebook

I started off with a "business" page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ravenscroft-Pianos/122078004513156) and ended up changing it to a "real" page so that people could make comments instead of just hitting "like". I did this by making up a new business page as though it's a personal page. I still keep the business page available, but haven't maintained it very well. My experience is that I seem to get many hits and friend requests on my Facebook page which usually ends up driving people to the website anyway.

Has it brought new business? Well, I dont' have a "click and buy" opton (yet 8-)). For me, it's more about getting the word out and it's definitely doing that. Most anything that is going to get your name and craft more into the public eye has the potential of increasing your customer base. People who have pianos see you, people who know people who have pianos see you, and people who wish they knew people who knew people who have pianos, etc.

How much time? This depends on what's going on. Posting photos and writing narratives can be time consuming, but it is very easy and once you do it, it's there for however long you choose. For me, (when I'm not uploading photos and narratives) I spend less time on Facebook than I do with emails and such and everytime you write something it's reaching everyone who is a "friend" (or everyone on facebook, or everyone with a computer, or however you choose to set up your security).

Anything else? Think of it like an "E business card" that you can put anything you want on, and then change it.

Subject: [pianotech] business facebook

OK, so I've got a personal Facebook page, and I have quite a few friends who make comments. But now I've got a Facebook page for my business. (If you go to my website, www.bleespiano.com, you can see the link for it.) I was told it will increase my business. I have to make comments and promote my business. But I really don't know what to do with it. My Website provider told me to visit Facebook pages of other companies in my business.

So that's what I'm doing. Who has a business Facebook? Not a personal one, but one exclusively for your business. Has it brought you new business? How much time do you devote to it? Anything else you can tell me to make it work, or help increase my business will be helpful.

Answer me personally or on this list.
