The jack rest felt slapping against the stop. Try just flicking the jack so
it slaps against the stop and see if it duplicates the noise.

Working on a Kohler & Campbell grand model SKG-500S s/n IQGG0500  The action
has a real noticeable noise on key return.  I think I've isolated it to the
hammer knuckle.... used a piece of action cloth between the knuckle/jack,
the noise disappeared, remove it and it returns.  Is there anything that can
be done to lessen the noise, shy of replacing the knuckle?
