[pianotech] Yet another funny craigslist ad

Could have been one of the rare spinets that actually sounded pretty
decent and held its' tune. I remember a couple of those; they're very
rare, but exist. Wasn't the asking price something like $250? Not the
worst price I've ever heard of for an oldymoldy.

Ryan

We might think this ad as being funny, yet, the customer sounds like she
is convinced that this type of piano is the best in the world. I have had
several similar situations. There was a classified ad in the St. Louis
paper for an upright piano with a cast iron soundboard. And I had a
customer, who was a piano teacher, who thought her straight strung Musette
spinet was the best piano ever made.

It's all in the perception of what people think they have, and what
someone, not necessarily another piano tuner, told them about their piano.
And then we come along and tell them something totally different than what
they have been led to believe. And guess who becomes the bad guy?

>From the ad:

We have a beautiful 1955 Everett Piano we need to sale before we move out
of state. We are sad to part with it!

One of the most unique and valued features of this piano is that it uses
cast metal levers to help control the 20 ton pull of the piano strings and
to synchronize the movements under various conditions (such as heat, cold,
damp, or dry climates). It achieves 40% greater tone freedom and a much
more solid tone this way. The Everett Balanced Tension back construction
(patented) has proven to stay in tune for a much longer period of time. It
gives this piano the same tonal beauty of a grand. No other piano (i.e.
with wooden back posts instead of metal levers) has the strength to carry
the increased load of a super high string tension.

The keys are all there, with a few minor chips on some of them. Every key
and pedal works! The felt tips have plenty of felt still left on them,
meaning that it has plenty of life left in her. Comes with the bench.

We are located right off the freeway and our home only has one step to
worry about.
