Hi, Paul:
I use AppointmentQuest, but I don't have their Premier service (whatever they call it), which has credit card capability and more customization. The price is more than double the lower tier, at $45. At my level, which costs $21/mo., there is no accounting capability. I use a Treo phone, with Palm OS, and I use PocketBooks to invoice the customer. It syncs with Quickbooks. I have a portable printer which I use to print an invoice/sales receipt using my Treo. Unfortunately, it won't print in the Quickbooks format, so the invoices don't look the same as from my desktop. I'm not aware that it could send a .pdf of the receipt via email direct from the phone, but then, I've not looked for it. There may be an iPhone app for PocketBooks, but you could look it up. When I sync my phone to the desktop, all the info is imported into Quickbooks, and I can send an invoice from there via email. Quickbooks allows me to accept CC's, and I don't need a terminal. If I had a laptop, I could use the Quickbooks virtual terminal you can access from any computer. I don't know if the iPhone could access the virtual terminal or not.
The AppointmentQuest service is absolutely fantastic. I get compliments from my customers almost daily about it. It gives them confidence to see a professional interface, and it's very easy to sign up. It's customizable to any degree you like. Email me privately if you would like more info.
I'll be interested to see how your iPhone ideas work out. Please post here.

Subject: [pianotech] electronic invoices - sort of OT

Hi all
I have recently acquired an iPhone and stumbled on an interesting app called Invoice2go. Among many other things it allows one to create an invoice on the iPhone, email the invoice to the customer and include a button onscreen for Paypal. It seems like an interesting idea and I can easily imagine it saving me lots of admin time in the evenings plus give me an easy way to accept credit card payments.
I am also evaluating appointmentquestion.com which I know is in use among other technicians.
 My questions:
- Is anyone using Invoice2go or a similar electronic invoicing solution? If so what are your thoughts? How has it been received by your customers?
- For those using appointmentquest.com, is there any sort of back-end accounting aspect to that program?
Appreciate any other comments anyone feels are relevant.

Thanks,

Paul
