Find the carrier solvent that the marker manufacturer uses. That should
remove it if you don’t wait too long. Lacquer thinner is a good try if you
can’t find out. That usually cuts through a lot of stuff.

Subject: [pianotech] Marker on Keytops & Sides

Good Morning,

I just got off the phone with a customer, she had vistors over the weekend &
their 2 year old got hold of a marker & colored on her piano keys tops &
sides.

She was able to remove the marker from the top but not the sides which is
her concern & why she called me.

I told her the marker will have stained the wood & probably cannot be sanded
out but would perhaps have to be painted over.

Does anyone else have any experience with either removing marker from
keysides or covering it?

Thanks,

Mike
