Thanks Tom and Dave -- Your ideas are sound. Back when primo rebuilt pianos used to keep better pace with the new ones, I used the price of a new one as my standard, which was solidly known. It's that middle figure, what the rebuilt will sell for now, that is the troubling variable. Also, since many folks have considered their pianos a major long term investment, it troubles me to label these pianos as no more than rebuilding stock -- when they are still serviceable. I wish for middle ground here. At any rate, my gut feeling was similar to the figures you mentioned. Thanks.
