I usually get excuses when I call, I'm in a meeting, or a voice mail. These folks knew that I'd be calling again. I'm tired of the excuses. I'm glad you guys out there are having better success at repeat tunings.

Two things. First, you might think these people were expecting your call because you told them you would do that 6 months, doesn't mean they remember that you would call. One way I solved that problem is to send a post card that the piano is due for a tuning, and that you will be calling them soon. This way, the wife will have a chance to talk to the kids, or the husband, or the piano teacher, or the dog, to see if it needs to be done. Then when you call, she has the answer. It might not be the answer you want, but at least you won't hear all sorts of excuses.

Second. I am sensing some resentment here, on the part of the customer, as if it's their fault that they are giving you the run around, or not getting the piano tuned in 6 months because you need the money. You need to be able to accept that they don't want it tuned.and let it go. It's part of being in business.

"Oh, I was just thinking I should call you, I'm so happy you contacted me.
That is such a nice service you provide." It makes me feel great and
also makes it all that much more worth while. Besides, it also eliminates
most last minute requests for tuning "before Sunday."
