Carlos asked: "List,
Badly needed. I'm working on a 1930's small Knabe Grd. I need new balance rail pins size
.150 x 2". Shaff only has .146 & .160 x 2 1/4 & 2 5/8 long. The .146 are
too small and the .160 much too big for the holes and especialy the keys.
Pianotech also no go on sizes according to their catalog. Anyone know of a
supplier with these sizes or help me with a solution. Thanks."
Carlos,
Drill out the rail for the .160's ream the balance hole for that size and rebush with a thinner cloth/leather. Either that, or make do with the existing pins. There is no other way that I know of. As far as the length goes, just drill into the rails deeper to compensate. (I'm assuming that the extra length will be a problem with the fall board or something else.)
