I'll agree with Blaine, but add that the musicians earplugs, made of the same silicone material as the ones he listed have a flatter response - and for me, are more appropriate for tuning work. Available from music stores/guitar centers, or online from the manufacturer:


If you all aren't using Diane Hoffstetter's plugh you're missing a lot and possibly losing a lot. This is from someone who has a large hearing deficit!! If you do not have a hearing loss, then you cannot even imagine what it's like. I learned to tune with it. Think about that for a moment.
