Kawai has been known to use Ash wood in hammers before. It sort of looks like that.
But, well, I'm not sure about it.

It almost looks like a form of plastic material when you view it in person. The wippens are that a type plastic material, light beige in color as well, but they do not have surface design that the hammers have.
I figure Don Mannino knows and will share whenever he gets wind of my query.
