A)  =  27.5 cps

C8 =  4186 cps

 

No one has mentioned that these frequencies are just the fundamental
frequencies of the low and high keys on a piano.  While the piano does not
make lower tones than this that we would need to hear, it does make higher
ones.  The harmonics, or rather partials, of notes in the melody range up to
the top certainly go higher.  If you look at it this way, or listen to it as
a healthy musician's ear would, much higher.  A healthy ear will hear
musical sound from a piano at least up to 20,000 cps.  Music recordings
normally go at least that high.  This of course does not mean that a tuner
with hearing loss cannot do his job; he/she can learn to compensate.  I
think this is a more accurate answer to the original question; 16,000 cps
may be as high as some of can hear, but the piano can produce higher
frequencies than that.
