I don't hear anyone not wanting to strive for the best.  How different persons define "best" is the issue.  My main objection to the thread has been the supercilious tone of the debate.

In an effort to raise the abilities of learning technicians
it is a little disconcerting to find some suggesting not to strive
for the best possible results in every aspect of our trade.

Although I have found that unevenly placed beckets and loose
coils do not necessarily lend to unstable tuning, leaving such does
demonstrate a lack of craftsmanship.
