Thanks William (or should I call you Will too?) I was able to set up a number of linked databases in Approach that have functioned very well for me for quite a long time, hence my if it aint broke don't fix it approach for many years. So a large part of what I would be doing would be setting up the same database fields in Access so as to be able to transfer all data without truncation, etc. I am finding some legacy software issues with Vista 64 bit. My HP Laserjet 1012 printer software will not install, and it seems unlikely that HP will provide me with an updated driver. Also, the desktop software for my HP iPAQ 111 does not want to install, but the jury is still out on that one. Setting up the company, entering fields, etc. - all pretty intuitive even before the hindsight. This past year, a good friend of mine who's profession is as a software developer and who has a much more comprehensive grasp of Accesses capabilities - tweaked my DB for me and made much more user friendly. I was operating quite well for a number of years prior to that, but it is now much more elegant. I'd say that is the greatest foible of Access - having a comprehensive enough understanding to make your DB elegant, rather than just functional. I've had no operational difficulties otherwise. William R. Monroe SNIP For those of you using Access, did you find it particularly difficult to build your databases? Any foibles I should know about? The usual - the good, bad, and ugly.
