Hand sanitizers (alcohol based) don't have the same environmental downsides
as antibacterial soaps.

A customer answered the door once and said, "Come on in; we're all sick,
but we'll stay out of your way -- just go ahead and do what you need to do."

What I needed to do was to leave, but I think I stayed and tuned anyhow.
It was a long time ago. But nowadays, I'm not so willing to risk getting a
cold or the flu and being laid up for two or three weeks, missing all that
income.

Do the rest of you refuse to go in if there's a good chance you'll get
their cold?

David has the right suggestions, my wife is a nurse and has had a few other
suggestions for me. In addition to the flu shot, mandatory if you work in
school environments IMHO, hand sanitizer both in my toolbag and in the car.
I don't use "counter" pens, I pull out my own sign or write out what needs
to be signed/written and replace it in my pocket. A recent study found the
handles on shopping carts have more bacterial germs than a public toilet!
Those same people use those pens! They also use the keypads for the debit
cards so hand sanitizer after shopping is a must, especially when you think
about the paper money.

I believe you can carry this way to far, that a certain amount of germs and
bacteria are good for your system to "keep your defenses up". All of this
anti-bacterial soap, etc. is what is diluting our natural immunities to
normal everday things but that is for another forum.
