All I can say is... shheeshh... !

I'm not sure I see the need to stack buttons on a stiffener like that. 
Just make a nice longer button from your favorite button material.  
Looks much nicer, no doubt does the job every bit as well if not better, 
and alleviates the need to get into extra length keypins.

 From the looks of things in the pics.... I almost shudder to hear more 
of this tale.
