Water spots can happen with lacquer or shellac. I don't know of water
spots with any other type of finish.
There is a product from Mohawk that is called No-Blush Plus that comes in a
spray can which will remelt the finish. It has a slow drying solvent which
allows the moisture trapped in the finish to evaporate. Basically, it's
just solvent, with a very small amount of lacquer in it. No rubbing
required.
Mohawk products are often found in professional paint and hardware stores
(not like Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.).
