One thing affecting the choice of hose diameter is the shape 
of the cauls. I use 1.5" hose and it works fine with a flat 
top caul and a small spacer on the very end tip of the already 
feathered rib. If you curve the top caul, like Terry's, the 
1.5" hose won't reach, where the 2" will. What works is what 
works with your chosen approach.
