Hi Gregor, It was nearly 20 years ago--so the results have died in a hard drive crash. I first used nothing, then just the hydrocel, then the hydrocel with back cover, then hdrocel with Damppchaser (trying to even out any swings in humidity) and finally just the Damppchaser. I could not meaure any differences between nothing and just hdyrocel, but did get a measureable response with hydrocel and back cover. I did not think to try just the back cover during the experiment--but now recommend all clients use one. It's passive, cheap and requires no maintenance. I could not measure any difference between the hydrocel with Damppchaser and just Damppchaser. There may have been some--but not at a level at which I could measure with the technology I had at my disposal. I suppose with global climate change the climate here may be becoming more moderate. We have not had -40 C temperatures that last for two or three weeks for the last three winters, and that's where the extreme dryness comes from--outside air heated up to 20 C (68 F for the 'mericans) drops R.H. way down.
