regilding plate

Hi Tom.

I use the spray cans from Motip, the ones depicted here.

I don’t know exactly their formula, but it is based on acrylic. I tried other brands, but I found this one to be the best : very good adherence, no tears, and that happy filling effect that makes a perfect sanding unnecessary.20081026_Restauration Bechstein mod I_0306.jpg

This is one layer primer, three cans Antique Gold and three cans clear varnish with no further preparation, other than degrease with nafta.

Maybe two layers would do well enough, but I believe that a good layer varnish will help a lot prevent new scratches.

Best regards.

Stéphane Collin.

Stephane,

How much are you thinning the varnish in order to spray? I take that you are reducing with mineral spirits...correct?
