dying sharps -how are you doing it?

I hope you're not trying to do that on the original ebony sharps. I wonder
what the color would come out like. Seems like you'd have to make new sharps
with something like maple if you wanted to dye them. Paint, on the other
hand, is a different story.

Hello List,
            I find myself needing to re-dye a set of sharp keys. Any 
advice? Aniline dye in alcohol? Follow with a wash coat of shellac? Any 
better ideas/ways??
