(was: set letoff foracceptable aftertouch?) The operant word here is probably "console." If this piano has a compressed action and short keys, it isn't going to regulate very well at best. A full sized vertical jack has about a 5.5 to 1 length to toe ratio. It whips out of the way quickly. Console actions have short jacks. They don't clear the butt very well. The short keys don't fall back well, so it needs extra lost motion. It needs help everywhere. You're doing good if all the notes repeat and don't bobble too much. Performance expectations of full-sized vertical actions don't apply to console actions. Good luck. Ed Sutton first of all thanks to everyone who left comments on the thread. they helped greatly. i've finally gotten somewhere on this piano. bradbury console with heavy action and bobbling hammers in the bass. r'member? i originally wanted to just work with the regulation where it was and just get it moderately playable. but that was when i came up with the aforementioned problems. so i just started the whole regulation over with 1 3/4 strike, a little over 2 1/2 dip, and whatever i could manage for letoff with old, grooved letoff buttons. oh and i weakened the damper return springs; that definitely made a difference with the touch. happy to say it feels so much better and no bobbling. daniel carlton -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
