Been reading some more back posts from years gone by on problems with getting actions in because hammers wont slip under the stretcher. Essentially that means that either the hammers are mounted totally bonkers... or the action is designed so that the hammers tops are significantly higher then the hammer shank rail. The palette of instruments we get here in the far north is admittedly somewhat constrained... but I cant say I remember ever running into an instrument so designed. Can anyone give an example of an instrument designed to have its hammers 5 mm + higher then the tops of the shank flanges ?? Cheers RicB
