Grin... I'm trying to hard to equate the "stringent standardized
tests..." ("stringent" defined by Webster as "marked by rigor,
strictness, or severity especially with regard to rule or standard ") to
the "minimal inkling of the workings of a piano...." bit... having a
bit of difficulty.

Cheers

"An RPT is a Registered Piano Technician, who has passed stringent
standardized tests to determine that s/he has at least a minimal
    inkling of
the workings of a piano, how to make everyday repairs, and how it
    should be
    tuned."
