Best Bass String Duplication?

Kurt,

I'm sure someone will chime in with a few good duplicators... I can tell you that for the most part I had used Mapes for bass strings. That has changed though, I ordered 2 singles from them, one for a S&S K52, the other for a Baldwin L. Both strings were not calculated correctly, the length of the wrapping was to long for both. I called them and was told "wait and see if they give you a problem, and if they do we will replace them." I just don't have time for that kind of crap! Over time I think its possible that the wrap will get vary close to the termination points. Hell! Its got to stretch some! As far as I know Schaff and Pianotek both use Mapes for duplication. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that. Regards,
Shawn

I need a single replacement bass string, I have the old string to copy.

Does anyone have a favorite bass string source? I have personally had
buzzing strings from Shaff, and have heard of buzzing strings from Pianotek,
so is there anyone better for similar money? What about turn around time?
