Machine thread, almost idiot proof. Requires pre-threading,, but so do wood screws.  I lay the block on the bench and run a screw in each of the holes with an air ratchet and lots of WD40. Gives the block that nice smooooooth feel <G>.

Nice thing about the stainless is that you can buff out the inevitable scratches with a good stainless compound.
