Tuning Help

Matthew could also try dividing the F3 to F4 octave into equal Major thirds as a beginning point. That should be around 9 beats per second? So if the A3 is "set", he would then adjust the F3 and the F4 upward?...I'm going to have to go to a piano a try this...it has been 35 years since that practice.

Don:

I agree that the exam list serve would be an excellent place for this question, but I think that this is also an excellent place for this question. I'm quite interested in what folks might have to say to Matthew to help him figure out his dilemma. It's as worthwhile a technical topic as any.

And Matthew, perhaps if you can get a grasp of beat speeds from approximately 7 for F3-A, 9 for A-C#, and 11 for C#-F4, this would help. Balancing them is the trick.

Hi Mathew,

Your progression of beats from f3:a3 and a3:c#4 must be wrong if the c#4:f4

is too fast.

Have you joined the PTG yet? The examination listserv would be a better

place for this question.
