Hi Al, Steinway is recommending tuning once a month, with humidity constraints of 45 to 50%. The wonder is that this RX-2 is as stable as you are finding it given the rather huge swings in humidity. As Ron mentioned so clearly the back scale is hard to "adjust" and "happens". What also happens is plate flex and smearing of unisons with relatively minor changes in humidity. DC system with bottom and top cover will address humidity concerns. Temperature is a factor more because it causes fairly rapid changes in relative humidity. Make sure the studio is at one temperature and is not being allowed to "drift" when not occupied. The one thing we really don't have control of is the partial pressure (i.e. barometric pressure) which will change the absolute moisture content of the wood.
