Nature of tuning pins - the return of the tapered pin?

Both the 0.250" and the 6.8mm are through holes. I've written 
extensively about double drilling on list. Check the archives.

As I replied to Al, resawn 1-1/2" Delignit (1/3), planed to 
9mm. Epoxy for the gap filling qualities, mostly.
