Ultimate Table Saw

For resawing, I have mine equipped with the 1-1/4" Laguna Resaw King blade
http://www.lagunatools.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=119 and the
Laguna guides
http://www.lagunatools.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=16.

I find that the only limit to accuracy in sawing - even something like
12-inch wide maple/oak/etc. veneers is holding the darn board in place. I've
rigged up some feather boards that work pretty well. If the blade hasn't
been damaged, it never leads. You never have to run sample pieces through
the saw to see which way to align your fence to compensate for the blade
leading your piece one way or another - the darn thing just cuts straight.

My bandsaw is the only bandsaw I have ever used. So I have no experience at
all with other saws.

My research consisted of reading about bandsaws. I don't really know many
folks who have bandsaws, so I did not have the opportunity to visit other
shops, etc. I did go to a local woodworking show and a guy was demonstrating
the Laguna bandsaw. He was cutting some very impressive wide veneers with
it.

I'll be honest and say that I think I did enough research to know that I was
buying a good saw. I've had the saw for several years now and have never
regretted buying it. Seriously, I think every time I use it I think to
myself, darn, this is a nice saw!

The construction seems great to me. Never had a problem with anything.
Haven't noticed anything that looks cheap or poorly designed. But again,
this being the only bandsaw I have ever dug into, my opinion on that kind of
thing at best might have moderate worth. It's really my only
"professional-level" power tool - so I really can't give a very informed
opinion on how it's construction compares generally with other major power
tools.

I am currently contemplating purchase of a Grizzly 20" planer with spiral
cutterhead http://www.grizzly.com/products/G1033X - maybe after I get that
I can provide a more informed general opinion.

I think Robert Goodale (sp?) in Las Vegas (?) has the same Laguna bandsaw
that I have - actually, I think he bought his before I bought mine. Dale
Erwin bought one (same model as mine I think) recently. Certainly Dale has
used other bandsaws previously. You might want to talk to these two guys
also.

But if you're thinking Laguna, don't overlook that Resaw King blade and the
Laguna Guides. From what I can tell, those are major factors that help my
bandsaw repeatedly send me straight to resaw heaven.

Hope this helps.
