I do some consulting work for Microsoft, and believe me, this is a bigger
headache than was planning for the possible Y2K fiasco. Here are the
solutions and suggestions from the horse's mouth. SEE ESPECIALLY STEP 3
BELOW. Once the patch is applied, you need to change the time zone and
change it back for trhe patch to work properly!!!:
==========
Did you know we spring forward early this year? As a result of the U.S.
Energy Policy Act of 2005, passed by the U.S. Congress, In, 2007, Daylight
Saving Time (DST) in the US and Canada will spring forward early. The
revised DST schedule will start 3 weeks earlier on March 11, 2007 and end 1
week later on November 4, 2007.

Users of a Windows Mobile(r) Smartphone or Pocket PC device running a version
earlier than 6.0 will need to download a DST update to your device. Until
you download the DST update to your device your device and PC calendar(s)
will show correct and incorrect meeting times.

Instructions for users with a Windows Mobile device running a version
earlier than 6.0:

Note: After the update, users with a square screen device (e.g. Palm Treo or
Samsung Blackjack) may receive a message that the patch will not display
correctly. This is expected behavior and no action is required.

1. If you have an existing partnership between your Windows Mobile device
and PC, connect your device via USB cable and then click [
http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/8/8/a8896b5f-69d7-4381-b12d-6fe27ff0d07a/Setup.msi]
(or copy that address to your browser) to install the DST update to your
Windows Mobile device and continue to step 3 below.

Note: If you have NOT created a partnership between your Windows mobile
device and PC before, and are using Windows Vista, click here for Vista
instructions: [http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx] (or
copy that address to your browser)
If you are using any previous version of the Windows operating system, click
here for other Windows OS: [
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx]. (or
copy that address to your browser)

2. If you are unable to connect your device via USB to your PC, you can
install this update by clicking one of the links below directly from your
mobile device, and then completing step 3:
• For Users of a Pocket PC click here [
http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/5/9/a599c3e6-f3ab-422d-b3d2-7eeee5f4ee63/DST2007.CAB]
(or copy that address to your browser) and select yes to install the update.
• For users of a Smartphone click here [
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/9/d/b9dfaf55-eeae-4d70-ac8f-cdcdeccab40d/DST2007_SP.CAB](orcopy
that address to your browser) and select yes to install the update.

3. Once the patch is installed via one of the above methods, all users
must manually toggle the time zone on your device.

• To manually change the time zone on a Pocket PC:
1. Go to Start > Settings > Clock & Alarms > Time tab.
2. Change the current time zone to any time zone other than the one that
is currently selected.
3. Tap OK and tap Yes to save changes to the clock settings.
4. Change the current time zone to the one you want to use.
5. Tap OK and tap Yes to save changes to the clock settings.

• To manually change the time zone on a Smartphone:
1. Go to Start > Settings > Clock & Alarms > Date and Time tab.
2. Change the current time zone to any time zone other than the one that
is currently selected.
3. Click Done.
4. Change the current time zone to the one you want to use.
5. Click Done.

Calendaring Recommendations
• Schedule appointments as usual. Include the DATE, TIME and LOCAL TIME
ZONE in the subject line of all meeting requests scheduled between March 12
and April 1, 2007.

For example: March 15 - 2:00 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time.
• Confirm meeting times with your clients, as they may or may not have
updated systems.
• Do not make any manual time or date changes for DST on your calendar or
any other applications. If you made manual adjustments to your calendar
appointments, change them back.
• Accept meeting requests you receive, generated as a result of calendars
applying the DST updates.
• Download the above update to your mobile device.
