Band saw risers

Has anyone increased the height distance on their
bandsaw to accomodate taller stock?  

I think I've heard of a "riser" being added between
the  upper and lower frame.  I'm considering making a
riser out of some pinblock material to gain 4 inches
of height capacity.  

This is so I can slice a pinblock to make capping
material for a delignit cap on multilam pinblock. My
14' Delta has about 6.25" height.  Of course then I'll
need to get a blade that is 8" longer.
