Fret files was great CA

Paul teaches a class about this. He has a little rig that pulls the strings down and away from the capo so that you can clean up a noisy capo with a fret file. With these new files available, maybe he'll teach it again, or write an article for the Journal. When he's not busy teaching!

The proper file has a radius (curvature) which comes pretty darn close to the desired shape and radius of the capo. It is used just like any file by cutting laterally along the capo with the file and radius controlled perpendicular to the capo (and maybe offset just slightly toward the counterbearing side of the capo. The final desired shape might be characterized as an italic U (U). For sure, it's not a V!
