Earplug suggestions

Yes, assuming you have enough of your hearing left. :-)

I use custom-fitted Westone plugs with ER inserts. Got them from an
audiologist years ago. Well worth it. I use either the 9dB or the 15
dB inserts. I've forgotten which ones are which, but I think I
currently have the 9db ones in the plugs.

I haven't tried any of the generic fitting ones, but they should be
much better than nothing.

Test blows can produce peak levels of 100dB or a bit more. Ear
protection is a must in our profession. As soon as I say that, I think
of the guy in our chapter who never uses protection, is in his late
seventies, and still hears well. He would be the exception, though.
Most of us probably are not that blessed.
