Stripping a plate

I refinished a plate that had been broken by a moving and 
storage company, that I'd had gas welded. Every lick of finish 
and filler was burned off. Heavy auto body primer and lots of 
sanding filled it nicely.

As many problems as I've seen and heard of stripper leaving 
residue in whatever it didn't (couldn't) remove, causing later 
problems in finishing, I think I'd vote for blasting. Probably 
with sand.
