The setup is for the blade at 90 degrees. The shank acts as a handle to secure the hammer. The screw at the tail adjusts for the taper. To taper the other side, move the fence to the other side of the blade and turn the jig around. The center slat slides for tail support. I've modified it a little since this picture was taken. On the bottom platform where the hammer rests, I installed a small riser on each end so the hammer can be tipped (tail lowered) as the blade approaches the shank so as not to nick the shank.
