Hi,

I had a strange experience with the use of ca glue.

I wanted to glue a piece of felt on a wooden stick (this is the tool I use
for cleaning the key pins with prolube)

As I was in a hurry I wanted the glue to set fastly so I used the trick some
technicians use for glueing loose Ivories (woodglue on one side and ca glue
on the other side.

Put some white glue to the stick and some ca glue to the piece of felt.

What happend is that it almost set fire ! There was some smoke and the felt
was black !

Some kind of chemical reaction ca / felt / white glue ?

Any way, I wont try this again !

Pierre

Objet : "Vapors" From CA Treated Pinblock?

I just got home from doing a CA treatment to a Wurlitzer spinet. The tuning
pins were loose enough to warrant a CA treatment and the customer is not
discerning enough to nor has she the desire to move up. As she puts it(and
I'm sure you've all heard it)she plays for her own amazement.

As I was sitting there the piano tipped on it's back on my tipper adding the
CA, my eyes burning and watering, I sat back for a moment to breath some
fresh air. I saw some vapor, it looked a little like cigarette smoke
eminating from the TOP of the piano. This is one of the old Wurlitzers with
the brown felt glued to the top and this vapor seemed to be coming from it.
I watched it for another moment or 2 and it gradually stopped. I have
probably done a dozen CA treatments to uprights, spinets, one old Wheelock
grand, but I've never seen this before, anybody else?

By the way I'll take whatever heat you dish out for "saving" this fine
specimen! <grin>
