Here is a link to the WWV, (NIST), broadcast wheel. http://tf.nist.gov/stations/wwv-wheel.htm Note that A440 is broadcast for about 45 seconds during minute two of every hour. Anyone with a short wave radio receiver can pick it up. Alternatively, you can monitor the broadcast by calling 303-499-7111. That is NOT a toll free number btw. Here is a link to the NIST description of their A440 tone. They're talking directly to us as piano tuners. http://tf.nist.gov/timefreq/general/glossary.htm Page 37 of the link that Mark provides offers a short description of the accuracy of the WWV A440 tone. Then, on page 59, it offers a pretty good, (short), description of how piano's and piano tuners use this tone. Pretty interesting reading indeed. Thanks Mark. -- Geoff Sykes -- Assoc. I know this doesn't directly answer your question, and I think you're in Europe somewhere, so it probably won't help you. But others especially in the U.S. might be able to use this information. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) broacasts standard frequencies on radio stations, and some, including A440, are available by telephone. This document describes the services they provide: http://tf.nist.gov/general/pdf/1383.pdf It's pretty interesting. -Mark Schecter
