Thanks Steve. I'll check it out. I'm curious if the higher degree tips will help me in tight spots and where the piano and handle often meet on tall uprights.

Marshall,

The probability is very high the Watanabe tips will fit your new Schaff lever. I have not seen a 20 degree head from Schaff or PianoTek. For 20 degree heads check out: www.colemantools.com .

Hi Steve,
Do these tips fit the Schaff #21 lever, the rosewood one? I experienced the tip problem on Wednesday while tuning a Straube piano.

Don,

I've sold quite a few of the Watanabe tips. They have much better fit and consistancy than what I have seen of the recent Schaff tips. If you are just buying tips, I suggest getting them from PianoTek Supply www.pianoteksupply.com. I sell them also, but must mark them up to cover costs.

Good luck,

List - I've used the Hale hammer (lever), heads and tips for umpteen
years. Needing to replace a couple of tips and since Hale is not longer
in business, I ordered from Schaff. The Schaff tips fit the threads on
the hammer O.K., but the tip doesn't fit the pins as well as the Hale
tips did. The Schaff tip seems to fit well on the pin at the very end
of the tip, but there seems an extreme amount in and out play (on an
upright) on the end of the hammer. On a twelve inch hammer length, the
end of the hammer will move in/out 1 1/2 to 2 inches. The Hale tips
let the hammer end move less than 1/2 inch.

Do any of you have a recommendation for another place to find tips which
provide a better fit with the pin?

Thanks.

Don
