Hi Marcel,
It sounds like I have quite a few options out there, tune lab, the Rayburn RCT, The AcutunerIII, Varatuner. Knowing which one to look into when I'm ready will be the interesting part. They all have great features.

Hi Marshall,

When I was using a laptop, I would put it on the top of uprights or on the plate struts in case of grands. I had an internal microphone and in rare cases I had to move it around to get better readings.

Hi Marcel,
I'm sorry. What I meant was, if I used a lap top with tune lab to do pitch raising etc. what do I place on the piano to pick up the pitch? I know I cannot put the entire lap top on the piano like one places a ETD on the piano.:) So I"m just curious as to what a tuner places on the piano in order to read the pitch of the note.

I'm sorry Marshall but I really don't understand the first part of your question. Could you rephrase it please. As for prices, you can get used laptop real cheap. With your impairment, I'm not sure if pocket PC would be a good choice.

Hi Marcel,
I'd like to have tune lab or something for pitch raising to get me in the ball p ark. I'm curious, if one uses a lap top to tune, what is used in order to pick up the noes pitch, laid on the pins to pick it up? Are lap tops cheaper in price than pocket pcs?

Hi Marshall,

TuneLab is probably the least expensive program you can get to tune. The nice thing about it is that it is a very light program (it does not need a super fast processor). So, you can probably get a used laptop and run it.

I know I'm not going out and buying and ETD right away, but I was wondering what size font the print is. ie. 10 12 etc. Since I use the city bus system, the smaller ones woule be a better match for me ,but depending on the print. I can see the red light on the spinner pretty well. Are they pretty much the same in price, tune lab, verituner etc. I know the Acutuner III is in the neighborhood of 1700$
