Let me restate the question

Ok... since my last attempts spun off into two unintended threads of 
their own... I'd thought I would try a more direct approach to my question.

Is it possible to create as much crown and crown support as RC&S boards 
achieve by making a laminant panel with all laminants going in the same 
direction and perpendicular to the bridge ?  Assume  soundboards with 
equal thickness.
