Given to young girls= as a reward for not attending school and staying home to help raise the 12 brothers and sisters. Some are kept because they do actually like the sou= nd these old bangers produce.=0D =0D Who are we to impose our standards as tuners to what a piano should sound and play like.=0D =0D The world would be a boring place if we all owned U1 pianos=0D =0D Regards=0D Robin Stevens ARPT=0D South Australia=0D =0D =0D =0D =0D =0D -------Original Message-------=0D =0D From: Geoff Sykes=0D Date: 02/06/06 06:53:58=0D To: 'Pianotech List'=0D Subject: Is it worth saving? (was Pinblock CA after Dope?)=0D =0D I have one customer with a piano that I plan on doing a CA treatment to. = A gorgous overdamper in really good shape that I have talked about in previ= ous posts. I have learned a lot from this list on how to go about that proced= ure But after reading many of the posts on this topic, and thinking about th= e majority of pianos I have come across with loose tuning pins, I have to a= sk how often does anyone on this list actually come across a piano with loos= e pins that is really worth a CA treatment? My experience is that most of t= hem are not worth saving in the first place in that even after the pins are tight the piano is still going to be junk. In situations like this I frequently suggest to the costomer that the money spent on this kind of w= ork would be better spent on a replacement piano. Of course that call is ultimately up to the piano owner, but I'm just curious as to your thought= s.=0D =0D -- Geoff Sykes=0D -- Assoc.
