bridge repair

A lot depends on whether you are removing the strings or not. If not, thin
CA is likely your best choice. If strings are removed, then pull the bridge
pin (if there is a crack, you can usually pull the pin with your fingers),
swab the hole getting a couple drops of epoxy in there, then I dip the pin
base into epoxy and drive it home (or when they are loose, just push them
back in with finger pressure and maybe a little tap).

Some folks heat the epoxy. I use West System and find that no heat is
required to get it what appears to be everywhere - into even the smallest
cracks. Clean bridge top with rag/paper-towel and acetone.

If I'm not mistaken, some folks advocate heated epoxy even when strings are
in place. I would have the same question as you - how does one keep the
bridge top clean? I KNOW I'd make a big mess of it!
