If you or the machinists are using easy outs, then it can be difficult to turn the stud when the easy out is forcing the brass out against the threaded hole. That's why it's best to drill with a left-handed bit which doesn't distort the stud but snags it with the cutting part of the drill bit. If there is some corrosion hampering the removal, you might try soaking in some liquid wrench. Tom Cole J. R.
