I assumed he meant the damper lifter felt, where the spoons and the pedal 
rod rub. I prefer woven action cloth to unwoven felt for this, because it 
doesn't glaze as easily. The rotary cutter and the big green mat (with a 
good straightedge) can cut the cloth to size easily enough, and action 
cloth comes in a lot of thicknesses. What I tend to do is to cut a thin, 
long strip the width of the damper lever, then cut it into segments about 
six or eight inches long. I line them all up in a tidy square, and then lay 
a couple of strips of "magic" transparent Scotch tape on them. This keeps 
them in line while I cut the other dimension. Glue where the old glue was, 
of course, which is at the ends.
