"draughtsmans supply shop"??? The closest my colonial little mind can come to a translation of this phrase is "draftsman's supply shop" which, if correct, presents the further problem that I don't think there are many such places left as a big percentage of engineering and architectural drafting is now done on computers. Maybe in big cities. I also assume (always dangerous) that you are talking about clamps they would use to clip large sheets of paper to the edges of their drawing boards. Yes? If so, I have seen such a clamp and it might, indeed, be useful for backcheck leathers. I just googled up some internet drafting equipment supply houses; couldn't find these clamps though some drafting boards seem to come with them. Got a source to recommend on either side of the pond? Do all the check blocks. Then start at the 1st. check block, glue and bend the remainder of the tail check-leather into place using DRAUGHTSMANS CLAMPS to keep in place while drying. These clamps are about an half inch wide, one and a half inches long and are available from any decent draughtsmans supply shop. Very fast. Very efficient. Better than wooden spring clothes pegs - and they have a long flat side to keep all the leather tight up against the block.
