Having removed the old leathers and using pre-guillotined leathers cut using
sample of the old leather, use PV thick on the tip of the block, attach the
leather strip and allow to dry. Do all the check blocks. Then start at the
1st. check block, glue and bend the remainder of the tail check-leather into
place using DRAUGHTSMANS CLAMPS to keep in place while drying.
These clamps are about an half inch wide, one and a half inches long and are
available from any decent draughtsmans supply shop. Very fast. Very
efficient. Better than wooden spring clothes pegs - and they have a long
flat side to keep all the leather tight up against the block.
Tip from the UK
